Our next phase - exciting news!

As a Community Centre, we are always looking for new opportunities and ways to develop our services, the Timetable and overall variety of offering.

Styx is extremely pleased to have secured the purchase of an adjoining field, which fortuitously allowed for change to Community and Leisure Use, as part of the States initiative for development of Parish Centres. Plans have been drawn which will allow us to provide a multitude of enhanced facilities, including new playground equipment, community Petanque and quiet seating within a nature walk and planted orchard, all of which will be supported by additional parking facilities and safer pedestrian movements.

All Members of the Styx Team are passionate about our Parish, so please be reassured that we wish only for any changes to be of a sympathetic and blended nature, in keeping with Planning and other relevant guidelines. The resulting works will aim to deliver much improved community facilities, whilst maintaining an open rural aspect in the heart of our Parish for our Community and the wider Island population to enjoy.

It’s a hugely exciting project which will provide many educational and social opportunities.  We envisage facilitating the likes of outdoor art classes, yoga, bushcraft and nature sessions, all further enhancing the provision of Health and Wellness activities for our community. We are also looking forward to further developing Partnerships with other charities and community support groups.

Our current focus is to work with our Project’s voluntary professionals to progress the next phase of the structural elements then re-tender for the works.
